Eagles Coordinator Kevin Patullo Denounces Home Vandalism as "Crossing the Line"
Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's home was vandalized with eggs after the team's loss, highlighting tensions between professional and personal boundaries.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo said a "line was crossed" when his New Jersey home was vandalized with eggs over the weekend, drawing a stark distinction between professional criticism and attacks on his personal life.
The incident occurred following the Eagles' Black Friday loss to the Chicago Bears. Patullo, in his first season as offensive coordinator for the defending Super Bowl champions, has faced mounting criticism as the team's offense has sputtered despite loaded talent.
"Ultimately, you want to be able to separate your job from your family," Patullo said Wednesday. "That line was crossed. It was an unfortunate incident. Us as a family, we know we've got to stick together."
Patullo acknowledged the legitimacy of professional scrutiny but drew a firm boundary at personal attacks. "As coaches and players, we all know that part of our job is to handle criticism," he said. "It's perfectly acceptable to talk about what's going on, how to fix it, what we're going to do going forward. But when it involves your family, obviously it crosses the line."
The coordinator said numerous community members and neighbors have reached out in support, and that his family intends to move forward from the incident.
Offensive Production in Steep Decline
Patullo has absorbed heavy fire this season as Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts and 2,000-yard rusher Saquon Barkley have both seen dramatic drops in production. Coach Nick Sirianni has issued public votes of confidence in Patullo after each of the Eagles' last two gamesβboth defeats.
Despite the offensive struggles, the Eagles remain 8-4 and lead the NFC East.
