Notre Dame star edges toward professional football after two dominant seasons

Jeremiyah Love, widely considered college football's best running back over the past two years, is preparing for the NFL draft. According to DraftKings Sportsbook odds as of March 2, the Notre Dame standout could land with any number of franchises desperate for backfield production.

Love's College Resume

The numbers tell the story. Over two seasons, Love amassed 2,497 rushing yards and 40 total touchdowns (35 rushing, 5 receiving). He finished third in Heisman Trophy voting this past season, claimed the Doak Walker Award, and earned unanimous first-team All-American honors. He recorded six 100-yard rushing games in 2024 alone.

Betting Favorites

Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans lead the pack at +225 odds, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs at +275. The Saints sit at +350, with longer odds extending to the Cowboys (+2200) and Steelers (+2500).

The Commanders hold the seventh overall pick and finished fourth in the NFL with 134.7 rushing yards per game last seasonโ€”yet haven't featured a 900-yard rusher since Antonio Gibson in 2021. The team rotates committee-style, with quarterback Jayden Daniels rushing for 891 yards in 2024 and Jacory Croskey-Merritt adding 805.

Tennessee, holding the fourth pick, desperately needs rushing help. The Titans ranked third-to-last in the league with just 93.5 rushing yards per game, one of only six teams that failed to average 100 yards on the ground.

Kansas City, with the ninth pick, presents another intriguing option. The Chiefs rank 25th in rushing (106.6 yards per game) and haven't had a 1,000-yard rusher since Kareem Hunt in 2017โ€”before Patrick Mahomes took over at quarterback.
