Mayfield and Rodgers Set to Play Sunday; Daniels Sidelined, Dart's Status Pending
Jay Glazer reports key quarterback updates, including Baker Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers set to play despite injuries, Jayden Daniels out but hopefully returning soon, and Jaxson Dart facing a crucial concussion protocol test.
FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer outlined the quarterback landscape heading into Week 13, with several starters facing injury concerns that could reshape Sunday and Monday's matchups.
Baker Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers Expected to Play
Despite a shoulder injury that forced him out early in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Week 12 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Mayfield is expected to play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals after practicing Wednesday, Glazer reported.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will also take the field Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, despite a wrist fracture suffered in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals that kept him sidelined for last week's loss to the Chicago Bears. Rodgers sat out Wednesday's practice.
Jayden Daniels Out; Optimism for Return
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss Sunday's matchup against the Denver Broncos due to an elbow injury sustained in Week 9 against Seattle. However, Glazer indicated there is "optimism" Daniels could return for next week's game against Minnesota, providing a potential lifeline for the struggling 3-8 Commanders, for whom every remaining game carries must-win implications.
Dart Faces Critical Thursday Test
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart faces a pivotal day Thursday. The rookie was placed in concussion protocol after the Giants' Week 10 loss to Chicago, where he absorbed multiple hard hits in the fourth quarter.
"Jaxson Dart is practicing for the Giants today, but after practice, they have to give him a neurological test," Glazer said on FOX NFL Sunday. "If he passes that, he'll be in line to start on Monday."
Interim head coach Mike Kafka has started Jameis Winston over the past two weeks, with the veteran throwing for 567 yards and four total touchdowns in both losses. Dart, however, has been the team's primary starter this season, posting 1,417 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, along with 317 rushing yards and seven rushing scores.
