NFL Week 15: Key Injuries Force Teams to Shuffle Starting Lineups

Injury challenges mark Week 15 of the NFL season, sidelining multiple starting quarterbacks and key players, all impacting team strategies and dynamics.

Week 15 of the NFL season is here, and injuries are reshaping rosters across the league. Three starting quarterbacks will be sidelined, two elite receivers face concussion concerns, and multiple other key playmakers are in limbo heading into the weekend.

QB Jayden Daniels (Commanders)

Status: Out vs. Giants

Commanders star quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss Week 15 after re-aggravating his left elbow injury. He had just returned from a four-game absence last week, but the setback forces him back to the bench for his seventh absence of an injury-plagued season.

With Washington sitting at 3-10 with little to play for, the team is prioritizing caution with its franchise quarterback. Veteran Marcus Mariota will make his seventh start of the season in his place.

QB Tyrod Taylor (Jets)

Status: Out vs. Jaguars

Jets backup Tyrod Taylor will miss Week 15 with a groin injury, ending his stint as the starting quarterback. Taylor managed just a 1-3 record in four starts this season.

Undrafted rookie Brady Cook will make his first NFL start against Jacksonville.

QB Geno Smith (Raiders)

Status: Out vs. Eagles

Raiders starter Geno Smith will miss his first game of the season due to a shoulder and back injury. In 13 starts, Smith has thrown for 2,648 yards, 16 touchdowns, and a league-leading 14 interceptions.

Las Vegas (2-11) is tied for the worst record in the NFL. Backup Kenny Pickett takes over the starting role.

WR Tee Higgins (Bengals)

Status: Out vs. Ravens

Tee Higgins will sit out the Bengals' Week 15 matchup after sustaining a concussion in Week 14—just one week after returning from the same injury. This marks his second absence of the season, both against Baltimore.

Higgins showed enough promise to return to practice in limited fashion mid-week, leaving some hope for a return later in the season. Through 12 games, he has 46 catches for 667 yards and 9 touchdowns.

WR Rome Odunze (Bears)

Status: Questionable vs. Browns

Rome Odunze is questionable for Chicago's Week 15 game against Cleveland due to a stress fracture in his foot. The rookie missed last week for the first time this season, but a week of rest may allow him to return.

The Bears need their top receiver as they fight for the NFC North after surrendering the division lead to Green Bay last week. Since his injury, Odunze has managed just 13 catches for 188 yards and 1 touchdown over five weeks after a strong start to his season.

TE David Njoku (Browns)

Status: Out vs. Bears

David Njoku will miss Week 15 after suffering a knee injury while catching a touchdown pass from quarterback Shedeur Sanders in Week 14. It was his only reception of the game.

Njoku has 33 catches for 293 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. Rookie Harold Fannin Jr. will take over all tight end snaps.

RB Josh Jacobs (Packers)

Status: Questionable vs. Broncos (Week 16)

Josh Jacobs carries a questionable tag into Green Bay's Week 16 matchup against Denver due to a knee injury. The Packers running back has repeatedly played through lower body ailments throughout the season.

Despite the mounting injuries, Jacobs has delivered: 817 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in 12 games.

RB Christian McCaffrey (49ers)

Status: Questionable vs. Titans

Christian McCaffrey's availability is uncertain for San Francisco's Week 15 game against Tennessee. The star running back missed Wednesday's practice with illness before returning Thursday at full participation. However, he was added to the injury report Saturday with a back issue, putting his status in flux.

WR CeeDee Lamb (Cowboys)

Status: Active vs. Vikings

CeeDee Lamb will play in Dallas' crucial Week 15 matchup against Minnesota on Sunday night, despite sustaining a concussion in Week 14 against Detroit. Ten days of recovery allowed him to avoid missing time—critical for the Cowboys' playoff push.

Lamb has 57 catches for 865 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in 10 games this season.
