Nick Wright: Don't Let Rivals Sign Brandon Aubrey

Nick Wright, a Kansas City Chiefs fan and analyst, expresses greater concern over division rivals signing kicker Brandon Aubrey than acquiring wide receiver George Pickens, recommending a lucrative long-term contract to secure Aubrey.

As a Kansas City Chiefs fan, analyst Nick Wright is closely monitoring the free agency moves of division rivals—and he's bracing for one particular signing threat.

Wright would be far more concerned about the Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, or Buffalo Bills landing kicker Brandon Aubrey than acquiring star wide receiver George Pickens, despite all three teams desperately needing receiver help.

"I would be way more bummed out, as a Chiefs fan, if any of those teams got Brandon Aubrey than if they got George Pickens," Wright said Wednesday on First Things First. "It is easier to find George Pickens than Brandon Aubrey, and so I would prioritize him."

The Mahomes Deal for a Kicker

Wright doesn't just fear Aubrey going elsewhere—he believes contenders should aggressively pursue him with serious money.

"I'd give him a 10-year, $75 million contract, $50 million guaranteed. The kicker version of the Mahomes deal."

That deal would make Aubrey the highest-paid kicker in NFL history, surpassing Kansas City's Harrison Butker, who currently earns $6.4 million annually.

Aubrey's credentials justify the premium. The Dallas Cowboys' kicker owns two of the longest field goals ever made in the league—a 64-yarder and a 65-yarder. Only Justin Tucker and Jacksonville's Cam Little have made longer kicks in NFL history.
