Projection: 10-7 Record Expected
Analyst Henry McKenna predicts the Patriots will go 10-7 in 2026, citing their offensive improvements and defensive depth.
"It's actually rare for a Super Bowl loser to miss the playoffs altogether, and I don't think that'll happen here β not as the Patriots continued to invest in their weakness on offense and built even more depth to their defense."
Sportsbooks are bullish on the Patriots: 9.5 projected wins at FanDuel, -210 odds to make the playoffs, and +1600 Super Bowl odds.
Aggressive Offseason Moves Set Stage for Title Run
The Patriots made significant roster changes despite reaching the Super Bowl. They parted with leading receiver Stefon Diggs and brought in Romeo Doubs from the Green Bay Packers as his replacement. The team also signed guard Alijah Vera-Tucker and defensive lineman Dre'Mont Jones.
The draft focused on trenches: Caleb Lomu (Utah offensive tackle) in Round 1 and Gabe Jacas (Illinois edge rusher) were selected to strengthen both lines.
But the biggest move may still be coming. The Patriots have been widely connected to Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown, who is rumored available after June 1. Such an acquisition would give quarterback Drake Mayeβlast season's MVP runner-upβa clear No. 1 target.
Draft Class Draws Mixed Reviews
Ralph Vacchiano ranked the Patriots No. 6 in post-draft power rankings, praising their offensive line work.
"Their most important job was improving the O-line, which they did with Utah tackle Caleb Lomu (6-6, 313) in Round 1."
Draft analyst Rob Rang was less enthusiastic, awarding the class a B grade.
"While I like the Patriots' strategy β and appreciate the difficulty of finding players who can make an impact on a team this talented and deep β their class feels long on potential and short on immediate help."
