Raiders Star Crosby Walks Out Over Rest Decision, Raising Questions About His Future
Maxx Crosby's disagreement with the Las Vegas Raiders over being sidelined for the final games raises concerns about his future with the team.
The relationship between Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders is fracturing over the team's decision to shut down its star defensive end for the final stretch of the season.
According to FOX Sports NFL Reporter Jay Glazer, the Raiders wanted to sideline Crosby for the team's final two games of the regular season. Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler playing through a knee injury, vehemently disagreed with the decision and left the facility.
Crosby is now listed as out for the Raiders' Week 17 home matchup against the New York Giants. The development could lead to questions about Crosby's future in Las Vegas, Glazer reported.
A Troubling Pattern for Las Vegas
The situation echoes a similar dynamic from three years ago. In 2022, the Raiders sent quarterback Derek Carr home with two games remaining in the regular seasonโthen released him two months later. Carr had signed a three-year, $121.5 million extension just the year before.
Crosby, who inked a three-year, $106.5 million extension with Las Vegas in March, is now under contract through 2029.
Crosby's Impact on the Franchise
The defensive end has played all 15 games this season, racking up 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, six passes defended, one interception and 73 combined tackles. Over his entire seven-year career with the Raiders (2019-25), Crosby has established himself as a franchise cornerstone: first in team history with 133 tackles for loss, third with 69.5 sacks, and tied for seventh with 11 forced fumbles.
Season in Disarray
The Raiders are tied with the Giants for the worst record in the NFL at 2-13. The franchise sits with the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and is in its first season under head coach Pete Carroll.
