Giants Head Coach Harbaugh Won't Rule Out Beckham Reunion
New Giants head coach John Harbaugh is open to the idea of Odell Beckham Jr. returning to the team, which could address their wide receiver depth concerns and reunite the star with his original franchise.
New Giants head coach John Harbaugh opened the door Monday to bringing back Odell Beckham Jr., suggesting the star receiver could potentially finish his career with the franchise that drafted him in 2014.
"The obvious pat answer would be you look at every option, and if Odell is an option, we'll be looking at him for sure," Harbaugh told reporters at the NFL owners meeting.
A Prior Connection
Harbaugh has legitimate insight into Beckham's value. The coach worked directly with the 33-year-old receiver during the 2023 season when Beckham played for the Baltimore Ravens, where the three-time Pro Bowler posted 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdownsโperformances that helped Lamar Jackson win his second MVP award and propelled the Ravens to the AFC Championship Game.
The relationship has endured. Harbaugh confirmed he and Beckham remain in regular contact.
"He and I do talk. We do text. We've maintained a really great relationship. He's one of my very favorite people in the world."
Beckham's Current Status
Beckham sat out the entire 2025 season, remaining unsigned after a stint with the Miami Dolphins and a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy. Despite the layoff, the receiver has signaled his desire to play again.
In March, his performance at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic sparked speculation about a potential return. Beckham told reporters afterward he hoped the showcase would serve as a "starting point" for an NFL comeback.
Why This Matters for New York
The Giants have significant depth questions at wide receiver heading into 2026. While Malik Nabers represents elite talent, he's recovering from an ACL tear that cut short his second season. The team lost veteran Wan'Dale Robinson to free agency but brought in Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III. They also signed tight end Isaiah Likely on a three-year deal from the Ravens.
A Beckham reunion would address depth concerns and reunite him with the team that selected him 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, where he won Offensive Rookie of the Year with 1,305 receiving yards and an iconic one-handed catch. During his five-year Giants tenure, he became one of the league's elite receivers, matching Lance Alworth's record by reaching 4,000 career receiving yards in the fewest games and recording at least 1,300 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons.
The Giants traded him to the Cleveland Browns in 2019.
