Titans' Robinson Bet on Young QB Ward in $70M Free Agency Gamble

Wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson has made a calculated wager on his future with the Tennessee Titans, signing a four-year, $70 million deal to become the primary target for rookie quarterback Cam Ward.

The 5-foot-8 receiver arrived in Nashville with clear eyes about his role: be the guy Ward can trust when plays break down.

"If you just watch the tape, him [Ward] being able to create plays outside of the pocket, that's what really stands out. For me, being that valuable target, always being able to be open for a guy. They [the Titans] told me that they needed somebody like that," Robinson said.

Robinson comes off a career year with the New York Giants, posting 92 receptions for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns in 2024. More significantly, he accumulated 622 receiving yards from the slotโ€”second in the NFL and first among wide receivers, according to Next Gen Stats.

A Proven Track Record, Built on Comeback

Robinson's path to this moment has been marked by adversity. A torn ACL in his 2022 rookie campaign limited him to six games. Knee issues sidelined him again to start 2023. But he persevered: 93 receptions for 699 yards and three touchdowns in 2024 proved his injury setbacks hadn't diminished his production.

Reuniting with a Familiar Architect

Robinson's move to Tennessee comes with a significant advantage: he reunites with Brian Daboll, his former head coach with the Giants who now serves as the Titans' offensive coordinator under new head coach Robert Saleh. Daboll was fired 10 games into the 2025 season.

"[Daboll] can find that matchup. Being able to get open on those option routes, I feel like it's kind of a big part of the offense and being able to get the ball out quick and finding zones and finding just little areas to get open," Robinson said.

A Giant Exodus to Tennessee

Robinson is part of a broader Texas-sized raid on the Giants' roster. The Titans also signed:

  • Cornerback Cor'Dale Flott (three-year, $45 million)
  • Tight end Daniel Bellinger (three-year, $24 million)
  • Center Austin Schlottmann (two-year, $7 million)

The QB Question

Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Miami, threw for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a rookie, completing 59.8% of his passes with an 80.2 passer rating. He started every game for a struggling Titans team that finished 3-14.

Robinson will join a receiver room that includes Calvin Ridley, Elic Ayomanor, and Chimere Dike, among othersโ€”a promising collection of talent built around a young quarterback trying to grow into the role.
