Bears Surge Into Super Bowl Contention After Stunning Eagles Win

Following their Black Friday upset against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chicago Bears have seen their Super Bowl odds significantly improve, attracting substantial betting interest as potential dark-horse contenders.

The Chicago Bears have exploded up the betting board and captured the attention of professional wagerers nationwide following their Black Friday upset of the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The shift has been dramatic. Chicago's Super Bowl odds jumped from +6600 to +3000 after the 24-15 victory in Week 13, making them the most-bet team to win the Super Bowl since that win, according to Christian Cipollini, BetMGM's Senior Trading Manager.

Caleb Williams and the Bears marched into Lincoln Financial as underdogs and delivered. If the playoffs started today, Chicago would hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

The Betting Picture

The action speaks volumes. One BetMGM customer wagered $50,000 at +6600 odds on a Bears Super Bowl winβ€”a bet that would cash for $3 million if Chicago wins it all.

Yet despite the offensive momentum, the Bears remain seventh on the NFC championship odds board at +1500, behind the Rams (+240), Eagles (+500), and 49ers (+1200). For the top seed, their odds sit at +600β€”third behind the Rams (+150) and Seahawks (+300).

Why the Bears Deserve Consideration

The 9-3 Bears have compiled an impressive resume:

  • Won 9 of their last 10 games
  • 7-4-1 against the spread, among the league's best
  • Forced 17 interceptions, most in the NFL this season
  • Head coach Ben Johnson has the second-best odds for Coach of the Year at +320

The Dark Horse Case

FOX Sports NFL Analyst Bucky Brooks is buying in.

"First-year head coach Ben Johnson has transformed this team into a bully that overwhelms opponents with physicality and pizzazz. With D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai running roughshod between the tackles, while Caleb Williams drops dimes to Rome Odunze, DJ Moore and Colston Loveland. After the Bears knocked off the defending champs on the road, it is time to believe in their potential as dark-horse contenders."

The question now: Has the market undervalued Chicago, or are sharper bettors getting ahead of a potential fade?
